Choosing the Right Specification
For everyday browsing, email, streaming and office work, 8GB to 16GB of memory and a modern processor are plenty. Choose 16GB or more if you multitask heavily, edit photos or keep many browser tabs open. Solid-state storage makes start-up and app loading quick; pick 512GB or more if you store lots of photos, videos or games locally.
Setting Up Your New Computer
Connect to Wi-Fi, sign in and run the latest system updates before installing your apps. Move your files across from your old device using cloud storage or an external drive, and set up a password, PIN or face sign-in to keep your data secure.
Looking After Your Device
Keep vents clear so the computer can stay cool, clean the screen with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid eating or drinking over the keyboard. Back up important files regularly to an external drive or cloud service.
